Summer 2026
I’ve been into “making” lately, as in being concrete, IRL breathing and being and doing; chopping, grilling, relocating rocks from there to here.
Postcards. An interesting medium. Small format writing. A communication –if you send it. A memory card of I was here if you don’t. Often impossible to read if you’re on the receiving end of a real one. Am I the only one who ignores the limited space; cramming too much detail in the heat of the moment; letters and words smaller and smaller, ultimately impossible to read, not thinking about the reader’s strain?
I struggle with too much online consumption and feel the ding to my eyesight, brain function, and psyche. The dopamine hit is real though. We can still make things here. Here are some digital postcards that I hope you enjoy receiving.

It’s been a big summer for rocks, now that I’m living in the postcard area of Mid Coast Maine.

We had a layered and rich cousins’ reunion.
Ocean Point, East Boothbay
I made a new friend. This 2nd grader found ways to stop me from walking along the shore, away from her. She had horseshoe crabs to show me. She found them in little low tide pools, near the seaweed rocks.
Low tide is the way to go at this beach.

Lubec Maine, cusp of spring and summer
Eastern most point in the USA. Way up there. Downeast they call it. I think of it as the nose tip in our state profile.
Lately, I’ve been taking photos as studies so that I can practice my watercolor making. Maybe someday I’ll show you some.
In the meantime, we were lucky with weather and had a beautiful time. Sparce, Spare, Simple, Direct.
I’m glad we were here.

Bonus Card
Late afternoon wind has quieted down and so have we. The cousin reunion with 40 or so humans is over. We linger and eat snacks, letting it get almost dark before we go home.
I loved your photos of the coast. Especially the little girl who showed you horseshoe crabs. Like the cheerful text as well. Nice to read about so many sources of beauty and joy. Thank you!
