New Year Time

We have turned a calendar that we share from New Zealand to New England. I don’t know about you, but I’m late already.

Today’s page uses my chosen ‘word of the year‘, something I only started last year, though I was quiet about it. It took me longer to commit to this year’s since I’m still in love with the last one. It dawned on me that I didn’t need to discard my old absurd pal. It can accompany me anytime. As I was listening and seeking a new friend, I noticed a zing when I kept hearing and seeing it. Once I decided it was the one for me, the zing only got louder. For example, many news stories recently convey excitement about the planetary alignment that is happening on January 21st.

What offers us surprise–the gift of zing? Is it alignment–being at the right place at the right time?

Zing would be a good word of the year. We zing all of the time sometimes quietly, sometimes out loud.

You want to feel all zings that are out there, it seems to me. What is the pathway to zing?

Alignment is the core terrain to get to know. Alignment wins.

Let me remember my alignment with light. Befriend my darkness, my shadow. That is, after all, where softness and light are made.

Questioning further, what does it mean to ‘be the light’ ** (or be aligned with light) in any given moment like sleep deprivation, diagnosis, or election-induced fear or smugness?

‘Be the light’ is a surprising command. It means disappear and become everything at the same time.

We are inherently aligned with the truth of love and beauty and fear and other baseline emotions.

How can we hold all of this zinging and point in a direction that we actually want?

A parking spot can help. Call it solitude, prayer, contemplation, an embodied safe connection with humility of the unknown. Wholesome laughter helps too.

If quick-hit anger and righteous knowing is on unexamined repeat, at best it is sterile and superficial and boring.

Yet they can beautiful in their simplicity, like this picture at my gym where I am on the floor stretching for the gazillionth time.

2025 will be absurd like all other years and we will co-create it no matter who is right and who is wrong.

I’m going bold with my word and intended direction. I am in alignment and am at the right place and right time, over and over. Be the light and see my darkness.

I align with the truth of my heart, therefore your heart.

Will you join me? Can we talk? We can be quiet together too.
